Old

I don’t make mistakes anymore. I make on purposes. When I was a kid, about a thousand years ago, of course I made a load of mistakes. But without those errors, I wouldn’t have made it to where I am now. A lot of time has passed since the last time I did something I’d consider a mistake. A lot of time. And now.

All that time ago, I made the mistake of being adventurous. I took a detour from the guided cave tour and got lost exploring the “Jaws” in the Abuja cave. The “Jaws” was a cave pocket lined with stalagmites and stalagmites. The tour guide didn’t spend enough time there before moving on, blaming the “bad vibes”. Of course there was the mandatory urban legend of a kid getting munched by the cave, but I imagine someone just got kweffed by a loose stalagmite.

The next urban legend victim would’ve been me if I wasn’t saved by Uncle Adisan. He wasn’t my real uncle, but I wasn’t about to call the old man by his first name alone after he saved my life. Uncle Adisan. was I-don’t-know-how old when he saved me but, to be honest, I don’t think he knew how old he was either. Immortality did that. He never told me how he got his immortality, but I got mine from him.
